GENERAL NOTES: SCHOOL HOURS: The a.m., Extended Day and Full Day sessions all begin at 8:30 a.m. The p.m. session begins at 12:30 p.m. Please ensure that your child is in the classroom prior to this time in order to allow your child the opportunity to greet the teachers and the other children. Tardiness reduces the amount of time your child gets to spend in the class and is also very disruptive for the other children who are already working. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMES: A notice will be sent out shortly for after school activities. PLAY DATES: If your child is having a play date with another child from the school and it affects the way they go home i.e. need to change buses or not take the bus… Please ensure that the school is informed at least one hour before the end of the end of school. We will not be able to entertain changes in their arrangements after this time. Thank you. LABELING: Please label all of your child’s belongings including: cups, caps, aprons, socks (amazing how many of these go astray), clothes, school bags and even shoes. Things get mislaid, borrowed, and even lost and it is impossible for us to find the rightful owner if there is no name on an object. LOST AND FOUND: Miss Sandy & Miss Momoko (Casa) and Miss Vien (Elementary) at the front office are now the keeper of lost and found items. If your child is missing anything please come in and ask. We clear this out periodically if no one claims them, and things do get thrown away. SCHOOL KITCHEN: The School Kitchen at South Horizons is for the use of the Children and Staff of IMS School only. Please prepare your child’s lunch at home. You are welcome to enjoy the new Parent Room, which has been set aside for your use. LUNCH-TIME ARRANGEMENTS (for children accompanied by parent/helper): we ask that children eat only at the play area table. MOBILE PHONES: Please turn MOBILE PHONES TO “SILENT” IN SCHOOL. PLASTIC FOLDERS: Please note the plastic folders are communication envelopes for you to communicate with school and for school to send home important information for you regarding your child. Please check these daily for any information we may be sending you. Please empty the folder daily as we also need to check them to see if you have any notes for us and it is difficult to do so when they are full. _________________ |

MONTESSORI EVENING (Tuesday, September 18th, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.) this is an important opportunity to better understand the Montessori curriculum and philosophy in order to support your child’s learning process: We also encourage you to read more about the Montessori method and philosophy, and use the opportunities in the classroom to connect what you are reading with what is happening in your child’s individual development. Ask your classroom teacher for a recommended title – we have most in the library, and parents can check out these books. COMMUNITY CHEST DRESS CASUAL DAY (Friday, September 28th) Your child may donate to the charities supported by the Community Chest and wear "street clothes" to school on this day. Please discuss this with your child, and put your child's donation into his/her plastic folder in an envelope marked "Community Chest". _________________ SEPTEMBER HOLIDAYS Each month we introduce holidays from different cultures to the children to help them understand their meanings and how they are celebrated. At school we have many opportunities to provide meaningful holiday experiences by incorporating them in the daily classroom work of music, literature, history, language and art. This is the perfect way to increase the children’s appreciation of other cultures as well as their own. _________________
