IMS has made the following programmes available for children aged 18 months to 9 years old during the Summer holidays (no uniforms are worn during this time, and the programmes are open to all).

Due to minor renovations at our Casa & Toddler school campus in South Horizons, this year’s summer Programme will be held at IMS’ Primary Years Campus at 6 Salvation Army Street, Wanchai (Morrison Hill), which is the same venue as last year. The Toddler Groups will be held in a classroom on the 1st Floor and the other classes will be held on the 4th Floor.  For those parents who have yet to visit the Primary Campus, it is located in a former primary school, and offers lovely and bright classroom environments, an outdoor play ground, and a rooftop garden & play area for the children.

Children will be broken into appropriate groups according to age and language abilities.

For Children Aged 18 months to 3 years:

The Toddler Groups are “Adult-accompanied” classes where the trained Montessori teacher helps the adult and child interact with the environment. The IMS Toddler Group provides an environment in which a Montessori teacher shows caregivers how to observe their toddlers’ development in order to offer them appropriate learning materials. The Montessori teacher conducts carefully-planned activities which lead the child to build sensory-motor skills, socialisation skills, high self-esteem, inner security, and abiding habits of concentration.

The IMS Toddler Groups serve children who are 18 months to 3 years in age, in a small and intimate environment with a maximum of 8 children to one teacher. If your child will be entering our Casa programme in September 2008, please enroll him/her in the Summer programme for children aged 3 to 4 (see below).

Our Summer Toddler Groups will be conducted in Mandarin only in the mornings and will be Bilingual in the afternoon. They will be offered in 2-week sessions, Monday through Friday (except the first session which begins on Wednesday 2nd July) from 9:00 - 10:30 am, 10:45 – 12:15 pm or 2:45 to 4:15 pm, with 2, 3 or 5 day options. (We will be offering our Toddler Groups according to our normal schedule again starting in September.)

 For Children Aged 3 to 9 years:

Each summer Programme will last for 2 weeks (Monday to Friday, except the first session which starts on Wednesday 2nd July.)  For children aged 3 and above, there will be a focus on different themes in English or Mandarin. Depending on the weather, one outing per Programme will be arranged as we explore Hong Kong to find places and interesting things that relate to the themes. Each child must be accompanied by an adult chaperone on such outings.  Outings will typically be held on one morning in the second week of each Programme – afternoon students are invited to join the morning session on that day, or may join the afternoon session as usual in which case he/she will not participate in the outing.

The Themes for each session are as follows:
