Fine Arts

The curriculum stresses “fine arts” as opposed to “crafts”, so the students are exposed to different artists, styles and media, and are encouraged to use their imaginations to develop something new.

We highly recommend this approach to creative art which encourages children to learn about artists and movements, while encouraging each child to make his or her own statement.

Judo

This is one of our most popular - and noisiest! - extracurricular activities.  Taught by a team of Black belt instructors who have represented Hong Kong in various events (including the Olympics), there are a number of benefits to children who participate:

  • Exercise - definitely an aerobic activity!

  • Respect for self and others

  • Ability to appropriately defend oneself

Gymnastics

Our gymnastics instructor has taught in a number of international schools in Hong Kong.  The curriculum focuses on floor exercises and activities, encouraging the children to develop muscle control and the ability to do new things at a developmentally appropriate level.

The class is fun!

Music (with My MusikBox)

My MusikBox is an early childhood learning centre which is committed to provide dynamic windows of learning opportunities for early childhood development. Through the delivery of interactive and innovative programs, we equip your children with the right tools in creating a solid musical learning foundation for life.  Following are two unique music and piano classes for your child to enjoy the fun of music at IMS:

MusikHarmony I

This certification program sets out a unique learning environment for kindergarteners to easily grasp the basic music concepts through fun play, such as: manuscript reading, rhythmic & tonal patterns. Through the use of interactive multi-media tools, singing and movements, instrument play, and other ensemble and team activities, the program will help build a strong theoretical foundation for future instrument learning. (Handout will be given in each class.)

MusikPiano

Is it time for your children to learn piano? But afraid that they might lack the interest, concentration, or readiness to go one-on-one? Try our new group piano preparation certificate program!  This program is carefully designed to stimulate children's interest in piano learning through fun play. Our small group setting, unique teaching methods, and visual aids help children to develop strong early stage of perfect pitch, sight reading ability, strong hand-eye coordination, concentration, memory, and playing gestures.

Entry pre-requisites: Students who has successfully completed a minimum of 3 MusikHarmony modules, and / or has been assessed by our educator for the readiness to start.

Edward de Bono (with Out of the Box Thinking)

Is Your Child Thinking Yet? Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking HatsŪ & CoRTŪ programs teach children to think creatively, solve problems & make better decisions. With improved thinking skills, children develop a greater sense of self-confidence. And with a higher self-esteem, they do better in school, at work, and in life.

CoRTŪ

Six Thinking HatsŪ:  is perfect for children from ages seven up.  It helps them use structured thinking and creativity by allowing them to overcome barriers that stand in the way of balanced and focused thinking. Six Thinking HatsŪ has been introduced to hundreds of schools worldwide.

CoRTŪ:   The Cognitive Research Trust (CoRTŪ) system was developed at Cambridge by Dr. Edward de Bono especially for children under a grant funded by IBM and is the most widely used program internationally for the direct teaching of thinking as a curriculum subject.

In each CoRTŪ lesson children learn or review several thinking tools that they will use to focus on their thinking assignments.  While having fun and competing in various thinking tasks your child will learn focusing tools that they will remember and use at school, at home and in their future.

A Free Parents Information Seminar will be held in Central on Tuesday, 13 September at 6:45 pm.
