Welcome to the IMS PTA!

Dear IMS Parents,

On behalf of the International Montessori School Parent-Teacher Association Board, we would like to welcome you to IMS! We are excited to have so many new families this year and trust that you will find our community especially welcoming and nurturing to both your children and your family as a whole.

The IMS PTA is an extremely active and vibrant organization that is intimately involved with the activities of the school at all levels. This school year will see many changes and growth for our community, as we open two new campuses and several new classrooms. The PTA Board is actively seeking to expand the depth and breadth of its volunteer pool, and we strongly encourage you to consider volunteering with the PTA at some point during the school year.

Currently, we are seeking to fill several vacant PTA Board positions, including Secretary, Events Coordinator, Artstravangza Chair, and Volunteer Coordinator. Please contact Jayne Schrantz or Angeline Chow for more information on these positions or any other Board position for which you are interested. Additionally, we welcome help at all campus libraries and on a number of PTA committees, including Special Events, Artstravangza Planning, Memory Book, and Communications Committees.

The time commitment for volunteering need not be onerous. While we welcome anyone enthusiastic enough to take on a Board position or a regular commitment, such as at the library or as a class parent, we recognize that working parents may not have the same amount of free time. Rest assured, however, that everyone can get involved for as little as a few hours a month, or even a semester, and still make a meaningful contribution to one of our many PTA projects, events, or activities.

We’d like to call attention to some of the upcoming PTA events this autumn. Please mark your calendars for the following:

• Friday, September 10 (9:00am-11:00): Welcome Coffee & PET Intro at the Helena May

• Tuesday, September 28 (7:00pm-7:30): PTA Annual General Meeting

• Thursday, October 7 (7:00pm): Louise Porter Parent Education Session

• Saturday, November 13 (11:00am-2:00): Whole School Picnic

We hope to see everyone at these events and the others that will follow throughout the year!
